Visit Local Slopes and Rinks
As we enter the heart of wintertime in New England, it’s important to stay active, get outdoors, and avoid cabin fever at all costs! The Boston-Metro area is surrounded by a ton of family friendly ski slopes and ice skating rinks that make for the perfect day trip.
Visiting the rink of Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth provides a great two-for-one winter experience. This 10-acre living history museum gives visitors a glimpse into New England culture, restored buildings, and seasonal gardens. Since we’re in the winter season, visitors are encouraged to end their visit with an ice skating lesson on their rink. This is a great attraction for residents of Forest Properties’ nearby Arbor View and Sagamore Court apartment communities.
As New Englanders, knowing how to ski (or at least giving it a shot) is a must-have winter experience. We recommend the slopes and instruction at Weston Ski Track, which is only 15 miles from the center of Boston.
New England Boat Show
Ahoy there! Boston is surrounded by harbors and nautical influence from earlier times, which gives of every excuse needed to anticipate this year’s New England Boat Show! The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center will be covered from bow to stern with vessels of all sizes from February 10-18th.
The event is hosting sailing seminars, interactive learning for children, pet photo contests, and first hand tours of the finest boats in New England! Tickets are $16 for visitors over the age of 12, and free for those mates younger!
